Four Requests from a Catholic Priest

Back in Los Arcos (this was over a week ago but it´s been a long time since we´ve had regular Internet) five of us went to one of the many peregrino blessings at the local church. These blessings are just a short 30 minute service and are available at almost every town along the Camino. The priest spoke very clearly, and I was surprised how much I understood. At the end, the priest invited all the peregrinos forward. He had four requests:

1. Pray for peace in the world.
2. Pray for the priests in the Catholic church.
3. Pray for the sick.
4. When you get to Santiago de Compastela, give the statue of Santiago a hug on behalf of the priest of Los Arcos.

I´ve already done the first three, and I´m not going to forget the last.

Hi Paul!
Sounds like you are having a great time! Here we thought you might be missing us, homesick for some home-cooking and needing a Jonesville fix. :-) But you are with good friends and enjoying all the new sites and experiences of this adventure. I am not surprised really, and I was the same way when I started college -- so involved in my new learning and new friends and new challenges to my realities. I was blessed with the freedom to seek new paradigms for thinking and living -- and I doubt if I had heard the word "paradigm" yet. You are probably limited on what you can read since a few books would be an additional burden to carry, but you still have a lot to stimulate your thinking and wonderment. I envy your opportunity, but I know I will have an opportunity to learn about some of it when you return. You will return, right? You could really want to stay much longer when you finish this camino. I liked your info. about the blessings along the way, and especially the 4 requests from the priest. I'll help you pray for peace! Have a great time! The trip sounds great.
Peace,
Ron

Paul, This is my first blog comment. Hope you get it soon. We are enjoying the blog site. We also enjoy the picture wed site for Camino, so we see the places where you have been. We pray you are holding up. I have not heard otherwise, so I assume you are. Good to hear that you are using your Spanish. We celebrted Mary's b-day two days ago. Yesterday she arrived in San Francisco and tells us it is very beautiful. We will keep on writing now that we know how to use the comments feature. Dad. It's me Paul, sending all my love and prayers. We love the blog notes. We miss you but are so happy that you are having this amazing experience. Saw West Side Story last night and Trevor is wonderful as TONY. You would be impressed. Life is busy and the summer, here very enjoyable. I worshipped in Ann Arbor Sunday - the music was stirring as always. Write when you can. Lots of love, Mom
